pampooranpara is an ideal place for picnic for those who are interested in scenic beauty and loving  forest and nature. For those who are interested in forest trekking , this is the ideal place to start with.From the bus stop by trekking for 20 minuets anyone can reach at the top of the hill pampooran para.It is a spot to view beautiful scenes around. The hilltop and scenes are serine and close to natural forest.It is only 14 kms away from Thrissur town close to POOMALA DAM.  From Poomala dam it is at a walk able distance of 1.5 km. This walking through nature away from mad mad crowds of town is refreshing and rejuvenating.

The best season to visit is December-January and ideal for enjoying monsoon. Avoid summer, but you can make it in the morning and evening.

pampooran para the malayallam word means the rock of snakes.The old people says it is true but now a days they are seen very rarely.The locals also say there were plenty of wild animals but now very very rarely seen cruel animals. There are plenty of birds.While ruling by british they were used to come over here by helicopter,by landing onthe top of pampooran para.

The nearest places to visit are POOMALA DAM,PATHAZHAKUNDU DAM,CHEPPARA(Abig rock which is a natural entertainment to climb and on the top very beautiful scenes visible around accompanied by  a blowing wind),Peacock valley,Poomala devi temple and sastha temple at vettayi. .with one full day you can reach all places.
